Free 1-Hour CLE Opportunity

The Library is excited to be participating in a free CLE opportunity offered by the law firm of McKinley Irvine. On Tuesday, August 10, 12-1pm, KCLL Reference Librarian Kim Ositis will be presenting a one-hour session called "Creative Internet Sleuthing for Person and Asset Location" based on the Library's popular Skip Tracing class. The class session is part of the 2010 Family Law Speaker Series - a free monthly event hosted by McKinley Irvine at their offices at 425 Pike Street, Suite 500 in Seattle.

The session has been approved for 1.0 Live CLE credits. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Email cle@mckinleyirvin.com to reserve your seat. Please include your name, state bar number, and email address. Call 206.625.9600 for additional information and upcoming seminar topics.

SupportCalc Software

Just a reminder that the Library has free SupportCalc software available in both locations. You can create, save and print new SupportCalc files or edit existing files created in your office.

Simplified Westlaw Logon

If you've used one of our public Westlaw computers recently, you've noticed that the logon process has been simplified. You no longer have to enter a client ID when you sign-on. You simply agree to the Westlaw database use terms and click on the GO button. Many thanks to the technical support folks at Thomson-Reuters for helping us make access to Westlaw that much easier.

Tech Tip - Office 2007

We recently upgraded from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2007. One of the most obvious differences between the two products is a feature called the Ribbon. The Ribbon replaces the toolbar and menu structure found in Office versions older than 2007. While it should make using Office 2007 easier, it looks and functions very differently and will take some getting used to.

Fortunately, Microsoft has created a set of interactive tools that help you figure out where Office 2003 commands can be found on the Office 2007 Ribbon. Likewise, they have created similar tools that show you where Office 2003 commands are found on the Office 2010 Ribbon. If you are planning on upgrading to Office 2007 or Office 2010 or have recently done so, check out these helpful training tools: Ribbon Guides: Office 2003 to Office 2010 and Ribbon Guides: Office 2003 to Office 2007.
