Navigating the Web of Data Privacy Compliance

The data privacy landscape continues to evolve at a breakneck speed with the frequent passage of new laws and legislation constantly on the horizon. This course will review key data privacy laws, pending legislation, and common elements in the laws and how they vary in the laws discussed. You will learn how to track developments in the law and find resources for compliance with the data privacy laws discussed throughout the presentation. In this presentation, we will focus on the growing body of state consumer privacy laws that is emerging following the passage of the CCPA, CPRA and Virginia’s CDPA.
During the program you will gain an understanding of
• Foundations of law and themes embodied in data privacy laws
• Rights of individuals and obligations on businesses with respect to personal data
• Key provisions of main governing laws and pending legislation
• Regulatory enforcement and litigation risks in data privacy
• How to find guidance for compliance such as expert analysis, forms and checklists
