This packet contains the forms and instructions needed to request the restoration of your firearm rights.

This packet is intended for restoring firearm rights that were revoked as part of a criminal conviction, involuntary mental health treatment, or due to a finding of incompetency to stand trial.

This packet should only be used in King County Superior Court if a court in King County took away your firearms rights.

If a court in a different Washington county took away your firearms rights, you have to ask the superior court in that county to give them back. If a court in a different state took away your firearms rights, you should consult with an attorney.

Asking the court to restore your right to possess a firearm is complicated. It is not always possible to restore your rights. To confirm that you qualify for restoration, review RCW 9.41.041 and RCW 9.41.04 7 or contact an attorney. If you are prohibited from possessing a firearm due to multiple convictions, then you must restore your right to possess a firearm for every conviction. If you believe you are eligible to reinstate your right to possess a firearm, then you can use this packet to complete the process.

An order restoring the right to possess a firearm is not a concealed pistol license or any other firearm permit or license. Restoration of the right to possess a firearm does not guarantee eligibility for a concealed pistol license or any other firearm permit or license.

Successfully restoring your right to possess a firearm will not remove a criminal conviction from your record.
