WTEW… Filing for an Immediate Restraining Order
Restraining orders are usually used in family law cases where one party is trying to prevent the other party from doing something. That can be anything from contacting you or other family members, accessing shared bank accounts, or entering a home, etc.
An IMMEDIATE restraining order can take effect right away – sometimes without a contested hearing – so the initial remedy will be as limited as possible while granting suitable relief. 21 days after an immediate restraining order is issued, there will be a “return hearing” where both parties can argue their case regarding longer-term solution.
