What Are the Benefits of Subscribing?

Book Check Out from the downtown Seattle Library: Use this form to reserve a time to check out up to five books at a time from our downtown Seattle library.  Pick up times are available from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays.


Remote access to the King County Digital Law Library collection: Search, tag and annotate a variety of ebooks provided by LexisDigital and OverDrive.  The current collection includes the Annotated Revised Code of Washington, the Washington Trial and Post-Trial Civil Procedure deskbook, Defending DUIs in Washington, The Law of Evidence in Washington, Powell on Real Property, Appleman on Insurance Law and much more.

“Let Us Do Your Research”: With this new service, attorneys can hand off their research question to our skilled reference staff and we will provide a research memorandum including references to applicable law and resources. Research services are billed at a rate of $100 per hour, in 15 minute increments.  Click HERE for more information. 

EIGHT Free Document Deliveries per Year: Give us your known citation to a case, statute, law review or other document in our collection and we will deliver a copy to you electronically.  (This is a $60 dollar value based on current subscriber pricing.) Click HERE for more information.

One Hour of Additional Westlaw Time: Subscribers can now request an additional hour of Westlaw time – beyond the customary two-hour limit for non-subscribers.  Take advantage of our expanded Westlaw treatise and court filings content. Learn more about our expanded Westlaw content HERE.

Discounted Document Delivery: Beyond the three free document deliveries, subscribers also enjoy a discounted price of $20 per citation for additional deliveries. This compares to the standard price of $25 for non-subscribers.  Find more information about this service HERE.

Check Out Books & Materials: Although all of the Law Library’s resources are available for free to anyone who visits one of our branches, individuals who also wish to check out materials are required to join the subscriber program. Find more information about this service HERE.

Discounted Conference Room Reservations: For members of the Law Library’s Subscriber Program, the hourly reservation fee is $20. This is a 43% discount from the non-subscriber hourly fee of $35. Find more information about this service HERE.

Discounted CLE Classes: Classes are back at the King County Law Library, and most of them are eligible for CLE credit! Unless otherwise stated, class fees are $20 for library subscribers. For non-subscribers, the class fees are $35 Find more information about this service HERE.

Subscriber Program Categories and Fees:

Attorney Subscribers: For any practitioner, law firm, legal partnership, or corporate legal department which has an office in Washington State, there is a non-refundable annual fee of $78.50 for each attorney of the business who wishes to have an account with the Library. Government Subscriber: Any employee of a city, county, state, or federal government office located in King County, or a judge of a court located in King County, may borrow materials for business purposes. Government subscribers are not required to pay an annual subscription fee. Download the 2020 Government Subscriber Form here.

Resident Subscriber:  An individual resident of King County who is not an attorney and pays a non-refundable annual subscription of $78.50. Download the 2020 Resident Subscriber Form here.

Exempt Organizations: Exempt organizations must contact the Library regarding qualifications for this category.

Subscriber Program Rules:

All subscribers agree to be bound by the rules of the Library. Any subscriber who flagrantly or persistently violates the Library rules will have their subscription privileges suspended or terminated by the Board of Law Library Trustees.
